    Hoop Dance Choreography

    A high-powered staple of circus performing, discover beginner single hula hoop techniques while learning a sexy and energizing contemporary dance routine. This workshop will provide you with a foundation of classic circus on-body and off-body hula hoop tricks before we move into creative movement that will fuse this newfound circus skill and your body into an expressive routine.     Modeling With Clay

    Since the beginning of human existence, we've had this desire to create art to express ourselves, our ancestors grabbed simple mud and shaped it into figures of man, animals, and cultural lore.

    To this day, we still use sculpture to tell stories, commemorate our idols, and to represent our most important ideals and concepts. From The Statue of Liberty to the Terracotta Army of Qin Emperor, it's very undeniable that sculpture as an art form is very intrinsically intertwined with our history and our beliefs.

    I invite you to participate in this long-practiced tradition and give life into something that represents YOU and was made with your own two hands from scratch. Modeling with clay is fun and therapeutic, and it allows you to turn your imagination into three-dimensional reality.

    In our class we will study the human anatomical form, color theory, texture, proportion, movement, and develop techniques to achieve a realistic modeling style.

    BurHop- what is it?!- Great question!

    BurHop is the fusion of burlesque and hip-hop movement. It intertwines the explicity of hip-hop and the sensuality of burlesque that can only be brought together so seamlessly with the most perfect body - YOURS! It was designed to build dancers up from the inside out. You will be challenged and encouraged to push through any limitations you may put on yourself.

    Classes are open level, only requirements are that you enter with positive vibes, open mind, and an open heart. Oh, and you have wear something that will make you wanna flirt with yourself! Knee pads are ALWAYS a good idea, but not required. Sneakers, heels, socks - ALL of the options are ok! I love all of you already!

    Beginning Acro for Performance

    Acro for performance is a workshop designed to help students incorporate acrobatics into performance ventures such as dance, physical theatre, or burlesque. We will focus on basic movements, line work, and playing to an audience. There will be a short warm up, some improv games, and some conditioning exercised to take home.     Yoga and Meditation for Performers

    Kundalini Yoga as taught is a lineage that draws heavily from Sikh tradition, incorporates all 8 limbs of traditional yoga, and focuses on raising the energy of awareness. We practice in a way that removes limitations, and develops the ability to think creatively and in line with your intuitions.

    Dharam Prakash Singh (Justin Fill) is a certified instructor of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Given his spiritual name seven years ago, he has incorporated the technology into his performances and movement based teaching since beginning the practice. He currently leads classes at Kundalini Yoga in the Loop in downtown Chicago.

    Our class will focus on freeing the flow of creative energy through Kriya - a series of exercises designed to activate and synergize the body and mind, specifically the glandular system. Kriya is followed by Deep Relaxation and Meditation. Bring a bottle of water. We will have a few mats available, but feel free to bring your own.

    Empower your inner fashion designer while learning the basics of underwear construction! Imagine your underwear drawer full of your favorite colors, textures, and patterns - all custom made by you! Basic materials and machine will be provided.     Writing and Moving - A Healing Practice

    Writing is a practice many of us learn in school along with a strict structure and slew of rules that must be followed -- but writing has the potential to be a creative, healing experience and so much more! Writing has the unique ability to connect the unconscious with the conscious, helping us to process life events, discover answers, encapsulate memories, and tell our stories.

    In this workshop, we will pair writing with body-awareness practices such as qi gong, meditation, and meridian stretches. Participants will be encouraged to make use of the openness, introspection, and mindfulness these practices foster, rather than rules and structure, in their writing. We will offer prompts and time to write, allowing participants to explore the self and the wisdom hidden within.

Begin your journey into the world of flow arts with an introduction to Poi, one of the most popular types of flow arts.     Stress affects over 76% of Americans. Besides the harmful effects on the body such as headaches, restless sleep, stomach issues, and lack of energy, there are other effects on the brain such as a lack of creativity and social withdrawal. During this workshop, participants will learn how to practice mindful breathing and mindfulness meditation in a simple and easy to understand format. To wrap up the session, students will experience Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation formatted so participants receive 2 to 4 hours worth of rest in a thirty-minute session.
